Questions About The Stream & The Woods

Are these Facebook groups?

No, The Stream and The Woods are not hosted on Facebook. Our communities are completely separate from all social media, so you won’t see any posts from relatives, your challenging child/children, or random people from high school. You also won’t see any ads or political news. It’s a private, safe container that sits outside the world of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn or any other online space.

Can I find a treatment center or therapist for my child in your communities?

No, and maybe. The focus of The Stream and The Woods is more on you as a parent, less on your child. Other groups have more of a focus on our kids, so we encourage you to utilize those and other resources when appropriate.

Now for the maybe…our robust resource library does contain options for coaches and mentors, books, podcasts, and other people and organizations that can help your family.

What you’ll be able to find in The Stream and The Woods are ways for you to make yourself and your mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health a priority while your teen or young adult child is struggling with substances or in active addiction. You’ll also learn about the CRAFT approach and how to apply it in your family. You’ll start seeing positive changes in your health and relationships, and learn tools that help motivate your child to make positive changes in themselves.

How Inclusive Are The Stream and The Woods?

Our communities are for parents of all backgrounds, races, religions, and sexual identities. That goes for your kids, too, so welcome, everyone!

Who runs The Stream & The Woods?

The Stream was created by Brenda Zane and is managed and hosted by both Brenda and Cathy Cioth, Community Director. Multiple advisor members contribute to the content in both communities, including parent and wellness coaching, yoga classes, mindfulness practices, and more. The Woods was also created by Brenda and Cathy and is hosted by Bill Guy, a certified CRAFT parent coach, life coach and grief coach.

What if I’m not sure about joining?

That’s ok, if you’d like to spend some time in our spaces getting to know us, you’ll be able to take advantage of a 2-week free trial with all of our plans. We understand life can be incredibly overwhelming when you have an at-risk child, so there is no pressure; just come on in and get familiar with our leaders and members. Join one of our group calls or text chats, or dive into our rich content 24/7.

What's the time commitment to benefit from this membership?

Honestly, as much or little as you can invest, and we know that fluctuates with your child's current situation. Ideally, if you tap into the community for 5-10 minutes per day you'll see real, lasting, and healthy benefits. Of course, we'd love to see you more, and the more you put in, the more you'll get out of it.

Why is there an annual commitment?

The expectation when you join us is that you are committing to be a part of the community for a full year. Why?

Because we've lived the chaos, we understand life is unpredictable. And for that very reason, you need to know your support system is not. It'll be here for you through the ups, the downs, and everything that happens in between (which can be a lot.)

As parents, we tend to adjust our activity and participation as our kids move through their journey with substance use and addiction, and that's ok. You'll never have to sit alone at 2 am wondering who to reach out to. The Stream and The Woods will be there for you.

How much does it cost to become a member?

We offer different membership plans to meet the needs of parents ranging from $29 per month to $49 per month, with discounted annual plans. We also offer scholarships for parents who would like to join but need a little assistance right now. Please contact us with what you can afford here.

Why is The Stream only for moms?

The Stream was created by a mom, specifically for moms of kids with substance use disorder. As moms, we don’t know what the dad experience is like so have focused our efforts on mommas. However, Brenda’s podcast, Hopestream, is a great resource for moms and dads who are looking for ways to navigate life while having a child struggling with substance misuse or addiction.

How will this membership really help me?

You may be feeling isolated, confused, scared, and exhausted. You're not sleeping well, are missing out on the “normal” things in life, and may be getting sick more than normal. You want to hold boundaries and have more control, but your son or daughter isn't following rules, and you feel helpless.

The Stream and The Woods are where you’ll find ways to be healthier, worry less, sleep better, and get a handle on hard things like boundaries, enabling, and navigating this challenging season of life.
